About Us

Kawendo is a grassroots, gender diverse and women-led community-based organization in Meru Kenya, dedicated to tackling climate change while advancing gender justice. We empower women and gender diverse individuals to lead sustainable environmental action through biogas systems, large-scale tree planting, and community education on climate resilience. Simultaneously, we champion the rights and safety of women and marginalized gender groups by addressing and preventing gender-based violence through survivor-centered support, legal referrals, and community awareness programs.
